Dick & Jeff< thank you. I have lived on and fished the Rock River all my life. This is thie first and only Flatty that I have ever caught. I knw it was different because the Channel Catfish always go to the surface and splash around, but this time the fish stayed at the bottom and pulled like crazy. When I got it on shore, it was a Flathead. We aren't supposed to have Flatty's in the Rock River. It was 31 inches long and weighed 31 pounds. I kept it to eat and have a mount made. My taxidermist strongly suggested a replica mount, so that is what he made me and did a great job. It definately did some line stretching. lol. That is one of the great things about fishing, you never know what your gonna catch next.
