YW..Tootie i have yet to try this... but cant wait. my waters are over-abundant with these guys ... some lakes dnr have lowered the restrictions on the smaller sized ones.

hope to catch some thru the ice with tip ups and try it out... its been years since ive tasted pike.

Thanks for sharing Ken. I seen it done differently on another video but they both do the same thing , getting around then y-bones.

Pike are excellent but bony Jim. There is a way to fillet the pike without all them y-bones but I never learned mainly cause I throw 99 percent of my fish back anymore.

I eat a couple 2-pound bass every year, usually to round out enough fish flesh to make a meal in cold weather. Nothing wrong in how they taste.

Had some pickerel fillets the other night and they were very good! Pike, I here, are excellent.

thanks Dick... i was surprised how well the LMB tasted. i generally don't keep the preds or game fish. i just remember them tasting muddy or weedy the last one i cleaned probably 40 years ago. we kept it as an experiment and kept  the slot between 14-16"

Comment by Slip Sinker on November 29, 2015 at 11:15am

thanks Carl!... nope this particular fish was 3" larger than the 10" or under slot for the crappie... we kept two 10" or under yesterday... plus a LMB in the slot at 15.5"
