Don't Columbia made those battery operated thermal jackets and pants now? My wife has a pair of snowboard boots with heated pads inside to keep her feet warm, allowing her hours on the slopes with me..not cheap..not cheap at all..but worth the price to keep her up there a bit longer. Technology has gone a long way to keep you comfortable for days on end. Just make sure to have plenty of cash to splurge.

Allen is right. With the advances that have been made in cold weather clothing, it's possible to stay warm and dry. I was out for over five hours, just sitting in the boat......no problem.

You just have dress for it!  Last week, I was wearing my usual insulated denim pants, t-shirt with a pullover, light-weight socks with heavy-duty wool socks over that, knee-high insulated water-proof boots, heavy-duty insulated big overalls, and matching heavy-duty coat.

I lasted for 90 minutes in that, in 5 - 10 mph north winds.  If I would have had some decent gloves with chemical hand warmers, and a good stocking cap, I probably would have stayed hours.
