You know progress is a good thing but you can have to much of it. I live in Swanton Oh just west of Toledo. The boat  someone else asked me about it today it's not to big and not to small I think you will have a hard time talking my grand daughter out of it she already calls it her boat.

LOL - Bill.

Cannot be ashamed - gotta defy the Gods yourself. They expect it, in fact. Get in, take off and call her to loud. Shake your fist at them and ask their favor. They love it when you do.

Lol....I might be a bit ashamed if I called my boats name aloud....the Gods might deny me.

ALL boats should also be named, if you would curry favor with the Sprites (freshwater) and Gods of the Sea. The Angling Gods, too, those of rod and net, be among these. They must be appeased and recognized.

Fresh or salt water, no difference. Large or small boat - it must be done. If it carries you upon the waters, the vessel is to be named and that name called aloud so the Gods recognize her and grant passage (which is why we inscribe the name upon her).

Ne'er scoff at the traditions of the sea, mere mortal, lest the gods become angry with thee.

Yea David that.

Its a nautical tradition of old to refer to boats in the feminine, as 'her.' Men left their homes and wives for the sea, and their ships became their mistresses... protecting their very lives and caring for them as a good wife would.
