That's quite the tying desk you've got! Very impressive. Wish mine were that organized

Sorry, I'm just now getting this message.   Did you say I was in the Great Plains magazine?  Tell me more. :-)  I must have missed that one.

Kim, You definately need to show pics of your popper!!!!! I love the weave jigs I don't fish them much but I do have 1/124 jig heads. I have a couple of weaved stone flies, well kind of stone flies. I changed the colors to be bright, but it is a stone fly pattern.

Thanks for the welcome. I hope to add to the site as time goes by. I thought it interesting a web site promoting bluegill fishing. Should be interesting.
I have a 1-1/2 acre spring fed pond in N.E. Texas south of Texarkana. The pond was damed in 1955 by my grandfather. When I was a kid this pond was known all over the county for its big bass, white perch and sunfish. I remember catching these big ol yellow sunfish that are no longer found in the pond. I forget at the moment what they were called. They were not red ear or bluegill. They were truly "sunfish" as I recall the bright yellow-orange bodies of these fish that would fill the circumference of a dinner plate. We acquired the pond in 2003. I stocked 400 red ear bream in Jan. 2009. I have bluegill in the pond as well as black bass and channel cat. I put 400 channel cat in the pond at the same time as the red ear plus incorporated 30 pounds of flathead minnows. I hope to add some native bluegill this winter. Fish in my pond must fend for themselves as I do not participate in any feeding programs. There are plenty of "bugs" for these fish to subsist. The property with the pond came to me unexpectedly. Part of the dam was breached and it had cattle swimming in it whenI got the land. The cattle are gone and the dam was repaired so we have about 15 ft water when the pond is full. There was maybe 8 ft. depth before we repaired the dam. At any rate I start vacation next week and wil have my brother and his son visiting at our farm in East Texas. We are planning onm having several big fis frys. I have worked on building our small home on the farm so honestly have not fished the pond as much as I would like. Two weeks ago I noticed some huge , huge bream beds in the pond. So far the ecosystem of the pond seems to be very happy. We love it!
