A Humble Christmas Fish Poem 2013

A Humble Christmas Fish Poem  2013

Come gather around my fire and a tale I will tell,

Listen real close because I don't want to yell,

T'was the night before Christmas, and the roof was a clatter,

Santa and his Reindeer had landed, that's what was a matter.

He said " I know you have been extra good this year,

        so I…

A Christmas Poem 2010

I'll tell you tonight ,because tomorrow I'll be busy

with my sleigh full of crickets , it will be such a tissy

I named the bluegill pulling my sleigh,

On Bruce, on Greg, on Sharon and Jen, on Dan and Zack , thats most of them

Finally, the last one pulling my sleigh,

It's the Spirit of Boogieman, Leading the way

I'll fish in the dark, because that is best,

       and…

Thank You , From the Family

The Family of Bluegillboogieman has requested that I thank everyone on Bluegill-Bigbluegill for them. They have been reading the words of love and respect that we have for the Boogieman and have been very touched during this time of sorrow.

King of the Redear Baits

Hi Yall

Yesterday was so hot that I almost had a heat stroke out on the water, this was with taking precautions of having plenty of water with me to stay hydrated , I guess I stayed too long on the water but was having a ball, the bluegill were jumping in the boat and the Red Ears were hitting my lure 2 at a time, I finally had to give it up or I would have been in trouble because of the heat , thought yall might want to some photos , be careful in the…

The Compleat 'Free Range' Angler

I guess by now you are wondering what my defination of " Free Range " is all about . To me it is the sporting chase of free roaming wild fish in a natural enviroment, that have the ability to escape being caught . They are wild fish that have not been raised or Aquacultured. Its far more satisfying knowing that you caught those large fish in the wild rather than them just answering a dinner bell, these are my true trophy fish.

This also leads to…

Yes sir, they're quite large commercial cookers. We usually cook for 100 - 300 people at a time.

Thanks LOFR. I have access to a couple of nice fish fryers if you need me to trailer them there. My best friend does quite a few volunteer fish fry fundraisers for churches and non-profits. I'll be happy to bring 'em with me if needed.

Hey LOFR, I think Keith Ritter came pretty close to hitting this one with a great looking tie he posted a few years/18 months ago...might be in his photo archives. Looked close to me!

I use a Redington "Pursuit" eight footer with a Greys reel. I bought the Rod at Sportsman Warehouse and the reel at local fly shop. I let the shop pick the real to get an excellent balance. I find the gills like a floating grasshopper fly or a Cicada during the hatch.

LOFR - I still can't find my porq quill. I think it sank to the bottom of the pond. I have lost every bobber I own except for the broken ones. There are bobbers in shrubs, trees, roots, pond, creek and fish.

Hey LOFR,

I finally took the quill out for a test fish.  Ok, so I had a rod n reel and a cane pole.  The cane had the quill on it and would you believe that was the only one to get a bite and catch a fish that day?  I managed to snag 3 smallish gills and a very little catfish!

I'll be taking another break from the garden soon and get back out with it!  Can't wait.  Thanks again for that special gift.

Christine

I am telling you this for a little sympathy, not because I want another quill. I lost mine in the pond the first day I got it when a catfish broke my line AGAIN. I have been watching all around the pond for it to pop up. (some of the lost thrills have done that) So far, nothing. My question is, do they float forever, or do they finally sink? If I ever recover it, I'm painting the top red.

Got my quill today. Thank you, thank you. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow.
