Targeting Multi Species Panfish

In my location of New Jersey, panfish include a variety of Species. I enjoy a Multi species outing either fishing alone or with friends or Family members. Bluegill, Pumpkinseed, Red Breasted Sunfish, Bullheads, pan sized Stream Trout, White and Yellow Perch, Crappie, a few Rock Bass, a few Green Sunfish is what I encounter. All are welcome to join and archive their techniques and Species List .

Calico Bass, that was what we called Crappie in our Youth. growing up in NJ.  I believe that's somewhat of an Atlantic corridor term for the Species. My Mom was from Worchester Massachusetts and she told me what I had caught was a Callico Bass when I described the creature. I still recall catching my first one fishing off a Dock early in the morning .

Jim Cosgrove .I'd like to see those flies you got 15 Gills on ! You get a Water temp? I am trying to figure out how to get Gills and other panfish on artificials when the water is in the 40's to mid 50's. I always seem to rely on crawler pieces and mealworms in that situation.

We have here members from NJ, NC,SC,OH and IL. I am getting Water temps in the low 50's  and panfish are only hitting crawler pieces on light hooks .It usually takes a while (Maybe WT at 60+degrees ) before they hit non tipped baits. Which panfish species do you find the most aggressive after ice out ?For me I'd say White Perch  followed by Yellow Perch . After ice out a NW incline spot with an inflow Pipe is where I start as I've had the most success through the years there early in the year . However I do recall good sucess in a SE cove also but a little later on .

Great fun Jim Cosgrove ! Good  work! My favorite time for Bluegills is June and July evenings with Flyrod and small Poppers and sliders with my brother and Nephew. Memorable times !
