Glenn, I am primarly a fly fisherman, using what ever is working. Live bait (crickets & worms ect).. I am sure will work. If you guys travel East on hwy 64, there are lots of canals along the hwy which hold a variety of fish. Easy fishing , worth a try.Watch out for the "Gator"!  South of Columbia, left onto old hwy 64 about 3 miles "Little Alligator River" Launch boat at end of bridge. down river. Many Big Gills! Best fishes, Capt. Berle

Hope you guys have a great outing Tripp.....North Carolina is one of the top destinations for Bluegill fishing in the country.....put in some scouting and learn the waters and it can pay off for years to come........

Thank you all for giving Glenn and I this information. Hopefully we will catch enough for the young boys to have fun and feed us for supper.

Thanks Berle, we will try to put in around Jamesville NC. If I can find it !!!!What is the best bait around there this time of year.I will keep that in mind about East lake.

Glen, I ran a charter boat out of Hatteras for 30 yrs.  Excellent fresh water fishing, in ponds scattered on the Island. Bass and Large Gills. Also, Ramp at East Lake near Machews.. Capt. Berle

Glenn, Launch at boat ramp in Plymoth. Go up river several miles, under power lines beyond, river apears to break up with smaller, clearer streams entering from right. Excellent fishing up these . Best fishes, Capt. Berle

Well me and Tripp wanted to try some where to go camping and fishing so we hooked up with the Roanoke River Partners, Hanging around Broad Creek near plymouth. Any Ideas just starting out with river fishing.

I'm not far from the Outer Banks Glenn, about 30 minutes inland on the northern shore of the Albemarle Sound......I do 90% river fishing....How did the Roanoke trip come about? Are you fishing with folks that have had success there? Knowledge of the body of water you're fishing is key.......
