You’ll have to overlook my ignorance and no, I’m not too proud to admit it. Growing up; I always thought a bluegill was a bluegill and a shell cracker was a big ole bluegill. I had no idea there were…Continue

Midge flies for Gills 1 Reply

These flies are really Trout flies, but the gills will "inhale them". ( they can swallow them deep very easily ) I carry an "unhookem-tool" and usually need it. These flies are  easy to tie except…Continue

Tying the Pot-Luck sinking spider

This is a simple spider to tie, I will do a picture step x step rather than a video. I tied this one on a size 10 2x hook, in a gill favorite color "Olive". Keep it simple with tight wraps and I am…Continue

A big worthy 10 inch Coppernose from a tidal creek in Coastal South Carolina.....He was lured on a drop shot night crawler in 6 to 8 feet of water along the grass beds.....It got up to 88 degrees here today and the heat is forecasted all week long.....

Nice Jeffrey. Sure wish the water temps would warm up here to move those Coppernose towards the shallow water.

With air temperatures climbing to near 90 degrees the next few days.....water temperatures will continue to climb through the 70s in coastal South Carolina.......The Coppernose are pushing into their spawning grounds and lots of fun lies ahead....Caught 11 this afternoon in the tidal creek pictured with the biggest one a 10.5 inch spawning male.....

Caught a couple nice Coppernose this afternoon...These fish weren't shallow yet because our water temperatures were pushed back down into the high 50s but they're staged and ready to head for the nesting areas as soon as our Spring settles in......It was good to see a few of my favorite fish today! I think LedHed posted a nice Coppernose as well so its good to see Lake Perris starting to represent as well....Good luck everyone...

Coppernose gills are starting to get more active in the Carolinas and great fun is ahead.....I grouped a few photos from my final trip of March yesterday and it included some really nice Coppers! These fish were in water @ 65 degrees and I caught them in three to four feet of water......They crushed soft plastics tipped with live crickets......Good luck with the Coppernose friends!

Wow!

Caught my first Coppernose Gills of the year this weekend...water temperatures were sitting @ 56 degrees and the fish were caught in three to five feet of water near bottom......Fished them with a slow fall presentation because the bite was slow....But just wanted to let the group know our favorite species is waking up!

Those are some beautiful Bream! They're just starting to bed here in FL, hopefully I'll be able to catch me a few :)
