Hy Bill good to see you back. I've been catching a few with a top water popper but ya there to much food in pond for them to care about what I'm pitching at them. Try a worm on the bottom.

LMB are a strange fish, I think. Only catch one about every 6 months, and only when I'm reeling in my bait to quit. Must be something about a fast moving target?

I have tried live minnows, beetle spins, every lure in my three tackle boxes, worms and a few very small BG. Yet not even a nibble from the LMB. I caught a couple very small ones on worms, but that has been it. The larger ones don't seem to bite anything.

What have you thrown at them Billy?

I can see LMB cruising around my pond, but for the life of me, can not seem to catch a single one.

feed it to cat. I wouldn't put it back in my pond.

Ididn't catch much today. It's been slow since Oct 1. Maybe it's not fashionable for fish to bite after Oct. Anyway, the one fish I did catch behaved very peculiar. It took the hook and pulled my bobber under and just held it there. Since I had spent 2 hours trying to catch a fish by setting the hook, I had decided this last fish I would just wait and see what it would do. I counted to 2 minutes with my bobber under the water, and nothing happening, when I decided it had maybe planted the hook in weeds. So I pulled it in, no struggle at all. This is what was on the end:

You think this is an injury or disease? I don't know what to do with it, it's in a bucket now waiting for the verdict. Injury, it goes back in the pond to give it a chance. Disease, it will have to go in the garbage, as we can't even use it for the raccoon trap, as it swallowed the hook.

Well, after calming down, I decided to leave that catfish alone. I don't want to eat him, don't want to put him in the creek, he's too big to taste good. So, I guess he will get to live the rest of his life out in my pond. That is, if he doesn't get snagged up somewhere on all the fishing line he's dragging.

I had to up grade my line at the house. 4 pounds to 8 pound. Tilapia getting on up there in weight. lost a few myself due to light line.
