You’re probably right, just throwing out an idea, either way I would have put the nasty thing out of it misery.

This is the diagnosis for ick Zach:

Ick is one of the most common and widespread of all the fish diseases. It is characterized by tiny white spots the size of coarse sand or table salt. Its microscopic stage is round with a horseshoe shaped nucleus. The parasite cannot be killed in the Egg stage. Symptoms may appear before you see the white spots. They include flashing (rubbing their sides against the pond), lethargy, and loss of appetite. The treatment of choice for Ick is salt for 10-21 days, depending on the water temperature. Ick takes longer to clear in colder water.

Doesn't sound like ick to me

Got lots of those. They can swim faster than I thought too. Today, a couple went zooming across the pond towards each other and met in the middle. Fighting, breeding? They were doing something out there.

6 inches to how big is that in just 6 months.

I have to put some of these in next year.

Are you still feeding as well if so how much?

Looks more like the ick or something to me, did you throw it on the bank?

Plus the eye looks real big for this fish, so it may be stunted as well.

Do you think this is a bite wound? And from what? The fish was half dead when I netted it and removed it from the pond.
