I;LL MAKE UP A BETTER SAUGE RIG; SHOWING HOW WE DO IT HERE;; AND A BETTER WALLEYE RIG FOR  YOU BUDDY

JOHN;; I ALSO FISH FOR SAUGER;; CLOSE KIN TO THE WALLEYE; AND STILL ON OCCASSION CATCH WALLIES WITH THIS SET UP;;;  IN MY AREA;; WE BOTTOM BOUNCE FOR SAUGER WITH MINNOWS;; RUN THE HOOK THRU THE LIP OF THE MINNOWLL THEN THE  ( STINGER TREBLE HOOK ) GOES INTO THE MINNOW TAIL;; 70 TO 80 PERCENT OF MY SAUGER CATCHES; ARE ON THE STINGER HOOK !  IT SBELIVES HERE;; SAUGER FEED AT A ANGLE;; CUTTING THE MINNOW OFF; RIGHT BEHIND THE HEAD-- STINGER HOOKS;; USUALLY STOP THEM !   GENERALLY;; I USE NO 6 HOOKS;  BAIT HOLDERS; WITH BENT; ( CURVED TO A SIDE ) IS GOOD.   ON THE KNOTS;; I USED PALMER;; AND IMPROVED CINCH;;   AND;; OF COURSE;; I JUST HAD TO MAKE ONE OR TWO;; FOR BLUE GILL;; WITH EXTREMLY SMALL WILLOW LEAF SPINNER BLADES; WITH NO 8 HOOKS; ( SEE THE ONE WITH THE PLASTIC WORM ) !!

I am looking more closely and see you got small plastic baits on some

Real nice work Carl I 'd like to know the knots used and #test .Also, I would like to know the idea  behind the hook setups. Are you only targeting Walleyes with these ?Crawlers ?Minnows?

Here's a cool book from 1976 Carl .Lots of neat Fresh and Salt water rig concepts .Discusses Equipment, Rigs, a large variety of Baits,Techniques .All in 4 chapters and 159 pages.

What baits you planning to use . I notice lots of those hooks are close together so those aren't tandems  meant for two fish . I guess they're intended to hook crawlers or live baits and use a type of trailer ?Is that the idea Carl ?

JOHN;; HERE;S A FEW RIGS I TIED UP TODAY

Comment by John Sheehan on June 29, 2016 at 7:15am

These two Walleye hit floating Rapalas just under the surface at a steady slow retrieve .Slip floated jig /half crawler got ignored .Fishing from shore. Overcast evening about 4-5 pm .
