Do you love big bluegill?
Rod Lee and I ventured into the gin clear waters of Lake Geneva's abyss last weekend....in search of post-spawn bulls.
We found them using 1/5 oz modified spoon rigs in 20 ft of water........we played nice, and released everything. The migration to the deep basin is not fully complete...surface temps were in the upper 70's...once the temps exceed 80 deg, the big boys will form concentrations on isolated hard bottoms within the abyss in 30-40 ft.
Whether you're fishing abundant suspending fish, or isolated deep basin fish.....The time to chuck spoons is NOW!

Nice gills Bill. I tried the spoons this last week while on vacation didn't fare well I'm sure it is something I was doing wrong. All I managed was trout. Will have pictures later of my vacation week. I would like to bend your ear a little on the spooning technique if you don't mind.
Fantastic Gills and method .What 'd you tip with this time out? I've been tipping with worm pieces or Gulp Magotts and getting them in 6 -8' on wood structure .Gotta try the basin approach .
What a beautiful Pseed!
I typically tip with wax worms skewered onto the single hook....tail first.
Impressive deepwater gills and seeds...great catch!
