Looking for info.

Would like some info on kayaks. I told myself never happen because your setting so low. Now I see they have done wonders with the seats so my interest is back somewhat. I would love to check into them as far as comfort which ones I should be looking at and maybe a propulsion system foot or small electric. Again Just looking for now with a couple back surgeries I want to look long and hard. Strictly for fishing.

Steve, the Castaway 116 is a SOT, not a SINK, so there's no "can't get out" to it - you're already out! :-)

Robert, I think you'd probably be happier with the Trident. I'm using the original Prowler13 (that the Trident was developed from), and I like it. Just wish I'd got a rudder for it.

What kind of water will you being on? River, pond, lake, salt, or all of the above? Make a difference when you put an anchor on it. I have an 8# mushroom that I like for mud bottoms (ponds and some lakes, as well as salty backwaters), and a 1 kg Bruce for rivers, large lakes, and BTB (beyond the breakers - saltwater).

Becareful Josh, when you get in that boat, you can't get out! Fishing from a kayak is the most fun way to fish. Enjoy yourself out there.

good luck on that one josh. you may find a used one on craigs list for that price but not new. i too am looking for a yak. and i have narrowed my 2 choices down to a caper or a trident 13. look at www.the outsideworld .com they have the some of the best prices for a new yak and most of them have free shiping. good luck with your search.

For all Kayakers and Gillyackers, here's a neat idea for measuring your fish or as a reference tool size-wise for your gills or other fish. Take the lid of a 5 gallon paint bucket (standard size is exactly 12 inches diameter--see photo). The lid is very lightweight and easy to fit in your canoe or kayak!!! It makes for a great support for resting your fish on when taking a photo and it provides an easy reference guide for your larger panfish specimens (one could even take a black permanent waterproof marker and mark off 1 inch increments)...I tried using tape measures, rulers, yardsticks and other devices but they all seemed to be really cumbersome or just didn't work for the small cramped space in a kayak when you've got a floppin fish and you're trying to line up a camera shot as well!!! Please post what you think of this idea or other ideas for measuring that trophy of a lifetime when you're in a kayak or other small watercraft where space is cramped!!! Thanks everybody!!!

Thanks Howard. My wonderlust to fish everywhere drives me insane. Have quite a list of places to fish. Hopefully next summer will have me traveling up through Ohio, Pennsylvanina and New England.
