i don't know if any ones tried this but if you take a small rapala original floating(size3 or 5) and push the knot(improved clinch knot works best) down to the bottom of the eye on the lure. then you can twitch it on the surface or work it like a wake bait. doing this with the knot makes it so it doesn't dive very deep (2 inches at most). the bluegills love it in my lake and it is very exciting to see them hit on top. i have also adapted this technique with bigger ones (size 11) for bass

Yes Jim Rebel WEE R'S are an excellent trolling and casting crankbait! Bro Greg and I particularly like trollin for Trout with them.Wife Linda caught the first fish (a 10" Crappie) using the shallow running larger one ,two weeks ago.We trolled 10-12 ft but the Crappie were up in the column hitting spinners as well.

I think crankbaiting gills is an overlooked option, especially for shallow fish.

I have had good success on the Yo-Zuri Tad Fry and the Rebel Teeny Crawfish over the years. The smaller Rapala Minnows do well also.

The Rebel Crawfish is my all-time fav for smallmouths in local streams and small rivers. River sunfish species and rock bass love this lure and I have taken smallies as big as 19 inches on it. Try the Teeny Frog by Rebel and I think you'll be pleased with the results.

Yes I've caught or my fishing Bro/partner have caught BGill, Trout ,Perch and Crappie and small bass. This time of year you probably should have the deep runner bigger lipped one the smaller lipped shallow runner are the ones we used successfully in the Spring.

Has anyone ever used a crawdad crank? Not the crayfish design, but the tiny one that actually resembles one. I just picked one up and am anxious to try it. I'm going up to Wallenpaupack for the week so I should come back with a full report.

Here's a better shot of the Bomber 4f Brown crayfish pattern.
