Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I started using Leland's Trout Magnets for gills and seeds this year. I have had great sucess with them I think the white and yellow have worked best for me you do not jig them but twitch them. I have fished them with ultralight spinning and a fly rod both with sucess They come in a large kit of sevral colors or 5 paks.
On the down side they do not stay on the hook well after a fish hits them the shad jig head is a tuch heavy to flycast but can be overcome

April '09' I caught Trout ,Bluegill ,Sunfish and Crappie on the Trout magnet.Small stream for the trout...Slip floating in a lake .
Nice review and fish! This lure should be good for at least 5 ft 6" ultralight rods with light line as 4 lbs test line!
the crappie magnet is one great lure. only one i've ever seen rival live bait for bluegill in clear water. draws SUCH aggressive strikes! they just come up and inhale it.
my son brought me some one day and we used them and i really liked them alot what i really liked was there longer shank on the hooks most of the jig heads u buy have a short shank, but the one thing i didnt like was they didnt have the little barb to hold the bait on,other than that i really liked them alot

Trout Magnets are made about 20 minutes from my house here in Arkansas. I own several of them but I am ashamed to say that I have never really used them. I will definitely give them a try this Spring. They do make a mini magnet that would probably be awesome on a fly rod. I believe it weighs 1/200 of an ounce.

I even have had good success under the ice with them on perch

I've used a size 8 or 10 Eagle Claw Classic Baitholder Hooks - 186 with a tungsten bead head with the Trout Magnet bodies and they are AWESOME!
