Hey Derick, what does a wax worm look like? Let see a picture. We will figure it out, I would imagine Mr. Shooter knows one.

I've been wanting to find a wax worm pattern that is tied with something other than rubber. What kind of material could I use for this?

Zack, love the new fly. A little trick when you tie it is add several wraps of lead or lead free wire at the back of the fly. Then as you strip the fly forward the hackle lays back over the body. On the pause the weight at the back of the fly lets it fall butt first and then the hackle stands back up and flutters as it falls.

A couple of books that I have recommend micro-jigs - especially in the winter. Maybe black or olive marabou. But I tied a few and don't like the way they cast.

I'm new to tying, but love to do it. When I hook into a gill with something I've tied it makes the catch all the more enjoyable. I love to fish poppers more than not, but have not been denied on sinkers either. Does anyone have any fly patterns that produce in very deep waters?

Kirbaer, Sounds like great fun. I would love to sit down and tie with you. Maybe one of these days. If you get a chance you need to come down to the Smallmouth rendevou in I wrote an invitation for all in BBG you would be a nice addition to the tieing event.
