Let me add to my previous comments that I have TWO cricket cages; I HAVE used them alot over the years. I just find worms to be as easy to use as anything else. The brim dont seem to mind them and I catch perch and cats on them, too.

Nevertheless, the well-rounded fisherman might feel the need to have BOTH... and I couldn't fault him for that.

I have a confession to make. I harbor the desire to get to the place where I no longer use live bait of any kind to catch BG. There are times now throughout the year when I don't use any live bait, and still take acceptable numbers of nice BG, but most of the time I am still tipping my jigs/lures...

Fly anglers can do it, and I believe that I can too, using spinning gear. There's absolutely no doubt that live bait is effective, but I guess I just enjoy the challenge of selectively targeting bigger fish with artificials.

Me, too, Tony. Inevitably, every fishing expedition I take involves both live and artificial baits.

Hey Tony there is nothing wrong with that at all. I am one of those whatever works fishermen, although a derive a special pleasure fooling them on artificials.  Have you checked out Maki Plastics?  sp? I ordered some plastic baits from them, and they look super good, They use a very soft plastic on their baits so I am wondering how they will hold up after catching a few gills on them.
