Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

As time permits, I will post some links here to sites or threads with pertinent information about our favorite fishes. Sometimes it's helpful to have an area that addresses some commonly asked questions.

Wow ,  a "sneaker" or "cuckholder". Great link! Nature is deceptive sometimes

when it has to survive!

Bluegill species and subspecies......http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=...

Longear or Pumpkinseed? John notified me that it looked to be a longear, and I just want to double check that it is such

Looks to be a longear. One of the most colorful fish I know of.

tony and jim, thanks for the clarification. i believe they're endangered in the state i'm in but i could be mistaken

That's a longear...pumpkinseeds have the crescent on the gill flap/ They are stunning!

Good stuff Tony

Nice info Tony. It's in my Fish ID folder now.

I have pics of two big "Female" Gills one 8 and 1/2 and the other 9 and 1/2 that I'm thinking may be Cuckholders.
