Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I'd kind of like to try fishing with crickets, but they just aren't available in stores around here (San Jose, but I think that holds true of most places in California) and mail order bait shops seem to only sell in quantities of 1000, which is way too many for me. They'd die long before I used even half.  Does anybody know a reliable shop that sells them in smaller quantities (max 250)?

Or, if any other BBGers live around the bay area, maybe a few of us could go in on 1000 crickets and take them fishing together?

Checkout pet stores - they use crickets to feed reptile pets. I don't keep crickets but save crickets we buy. They do live for awhile in a 5 gallon bucket. We save toilet paper & paper towel rollers and make cricket condos. Makes it easier to collect crickets out of the bucket. Small slice of fruit or veggie for food - I feed mine Koi food also.

I'll do that, thanks!
You may try some of the canned crickets from basspro or cabelas...this may be a better way if you cannot get the live ones..
I've found them at pet shops before.  Grasshoppers should be bouncing around soon also!
