Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

A group of my friends and myself used yo go to Rice Lake which was a 500 mile one way trip from New Bremen Ohio. If you are unaware, the atmosphere for fishing in Canada has changed a lot and we are looking for a new place to fish.

Our group love blue gill and are hoping there is somewhere in the states that we could go to. We are numbers fisherman as we like to bring a lot of fillets back so the trophy fish are great but 7 to 9 inch in qty. is better.

Another thing that was always great about rice was the fish fish cleaning facilities they provides.

Does anyone know of a lake that offers what we had in Canada?

Reelfoot Lake in Northwest TN is a suggestion. They have plenty of places to stay that are on or near the lake. These resorts are for fishing in the spring and summer and little else.(duck hunting in winter) There are no water sports on this lake. Crappie and Bluegill are the main attraction. Unlike other lakes Largemouth Bass are fourth on the list behind Catfish. The history and natural beauty are an added bonus. Don't bring a fiberglass boat. I HAVE A FEW WINTER PICS OF REELFOOT ON MY PAGE. I'll try to answer any questions you have.
I would say either Reelfoot or Ky Lake.
I watched some video on both Reelfoot and Kentucky Lakea, both look like they have some nice size bluegill. Any suggestions on accommodations at either? We would be looking at 10 to 16 guys ans we would stay from Sunday thru Thursday.

Oh now I feel stupid - I wasnt getting it. Bunch of guys for fishing weekend getaway.....

Dang, missed that one.

Grand Lake St Marys?

Lake Loramie?

Indian Lake?

Pymatuning State Park?

Lake Erie?

Sometimes you have to go look. One of my favorite spots was a surprise to me, until I discovered it.

Jeff, As much as I hate to send you to another site. Your best bet to find the hot spots on both lakes, is go to crappie.com. Post on the Ky and tenn (for reelfoot) state boards. A gentleman by the name of canepole, will probaly help you with Ky lake. There are lots of resorts and hotels around or nearby both lakes. Will you be renting boats or bringing own? Alot of the resorts inculde boat rental, hope this helps..............Dwayne
Oh, by the way if you go to Ky lake, try and eat at Patty's in grand Chain, great pork chops and if still open, been years since I have been down there Sue and Charlies great fish.
