Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Why does a 10" Bluegill Thru The Ice Thrill me more than a BIG bass?

I love to bass fish in open water and have caught my share of nice Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass.  But for some reason, pulling a 10" plus Bluegill through the ice is a bigger thrill for me.  I can't explain it, but there is something magical about jigging up big Bluegill through the ice.  Only 3 1/2 months or so until safe ice here in CT.

Count Down to Ice I guess I will never understand that. That means it will have to be cold. 10 Bluegill fight harder than a BASS!!!!!!
where do you ice fish in ct
Lots of lakes and ponds in eastern CT and occasionally in western CT.
do you ever fish uncas lake
I did fish it through the ice once last winter. It was TOUGH.
the gills that are in there are huge
I have heard that, but the day we went they were pretty average.
i found a dead on on a swim platform that was like 11inches
sounds like it will be freezing dont think i would feel the fish bite. I dont get much ice if Fla. but good luck
I hear ya, but dont rush it! Ice'll come soon enough and Fall is a great time for big fish to be caught in the shallows again. Ever fish Candlewood Lake in Danbury?
I have fished Candlewood many times, but only for bass. I focus on bass in open water and Bluegill, Perch and Crappie thru the ice.
Good smallies in Candlewood . Big bluegill there as far as u know Mike?
