This why our panfish are so abundant and get bigger…an abundance of forage…..this is one little scoop in eel grass close to flooded cypress trees……like 12 good food items in this picture, quite a few grass shrimp including adults and shrimplets as well as many crab species hatchlings……..every fish in the estuary will eat these items……
Catching grass shrimp in the spring will result in small crabs as well
The great thing about brackish water environments.......the fish have multiple food sources to keep them healthy...I often find tiny blue crab hatchlings in fish cleaned in May and early Summer.....
