Do you love big bluegill?

Hey Derrick...my guess is you are looking at either a very large monster bluegill or shellcracker that is protecting and running fish away from the beds. Usually fish like this require a live bait presentation and the previously mention cricket or worm options may prevail. If I were you, I'd fish low light or cloudy conditions and use a small live earthworm on a # 8 or 10 hook with just a BB split-shot for weight to cast on 4 pound line. Work the bait right through the fishs' bed at a snails pace and allow the fish to run briefly before setting the hook. Of course, it is winter now and if you haven't caught that fish this summer then I would employ this option next spring when they first bed.
Or, you can call me and invite me down! LOL!
