Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Going to try something different ordered a Lew's Wally Marshall SOLO series rod that is 12' long and going to pair it with a 13 Fishing Black Betty 6061 Inline Reel. This should allow me to drop in close and get down. I can work various areas quickly and do short casts if needed. This rod will be setup for quick and easy jig and float. I spent several years with Tenkara and Keiryu rods from 10-21' long so it should be a pretty easy transition. Only advantage will be having a reel to protect the line. I'll be using some Gliss 8# super line for the trimmings. Should make for a smooth setup and slow retrieve and help eliminate the line twist. Hot through Saturday but Sunday I'll get out in full force.

GOOD LUCK CRAIG; HOPE YOU ENJOY USING THE SET UP !   CATCH A BUNCH !!

Well got the Rod and reel today, Reel feels super cheap and was the wrong rotation so back it went and one of the 2 rods was broken so back it went. My kind of weekend, I think I will put a Pflueger President 20 series on this rod to give it balance and have the retrieve I want and a good drag. Been a while since messing with 12' rods this thing is cool.

Good try Carl. Jig and float rods I'll setup 4 of them almost spider rigging.

I'm used to 12' surf rods.  Those were for big water fishing for BIG fish.  Never tried one of the big Crappie rods.

Feels good in hand will be better once I can test. To begin with I'll steal a reel off my fenwick till the reel comes for this one.

WELL CRAIG;; YOU COULD JUST  PUT A FLY REEL ON IT TO !!  HAHAHAHAHAHA

There are spin/fly combos out there.  Just change out the reel....
