Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hello ladies and gentle gills of the BBG world!!!! I am here to ask for your assistance in my time of need, for I have indeed bin using combos that I need to up grade. The reels are still in great shape, but the rods..... Not so much. So instead if buying a completely knew set I have decided upon purchasing two knew rods. But not knowing what to use and what will work I have decided to ask all if you for your wisdom and might to help in my journey of finding two new rods! Thank you all for your help in advance and tight lines for everyone!

HEY SLIP,
I BUY up old solid glass bait casters and spinning rods. I then strip em of everything , sand and finish the old blanks and turn em into spinning rods . Almost indestructible for sure and great for shore fishing in tight places . I originally made em for kids and would give em away to kids who needed one but now I sell most of em to adults........

Thanks Carl I appreciate the kind words buddy......

tooty;; bragging on you; 2 times in one day; at 5 dollars each !  hmmm  you owe me buddy;; got cha old man !!   LOL

Nacho-  I should have said what type lures this will cast; and yes sir; cast 1/16 baits; very easy;;  with it being fiberglas; will handle any type size fish there is; plus having a great action for blue gills ! very light tip action on this one;; paired  with a president reel;  8 pound mr. crappie line;; great little rod !!  heavier baits; such a spoons; crankbaits; jigs;;    itsas easy as it gets !!

GGGGGGGGEEZ CARL GONNA HAVE TO FIX YA A DRINK AT RENDEZVOUS THIS YEAR !!!!!!

hahahahaahhahahaahahha   thats a deal tooty !!

last year was a fantastic learning experience for me. i was without my jon boat for most of the season and i used the kayak for my b'gill fishing at the local lake. when in the jon boat i love to take a widerange of reel, rod and line rigs depending on the type of fishing i will be doing. the kayak you learn to lighten your load and limit the rigs and tackle ya take fishing. through trial and error  i ended up taking three setups

  • 5.5' Ul dropshot rig
  • 5.5 ft UL slip bobber rig
  • 5.5' UL jigging rod

all rigged with 50 series reels and superlines.

a great personal favorite brand of rod for me is the diawa spinmatic or the okuma Celilo UL

these rigs handled dozens of SMB and Pike up to 30" .... its all i fish with now.

this is all based on personal preference at times i love fishing with the long rods too but by the end of the day im back on the 5-5' UL

members of BBG post rigs and setups on this group PATTERN-RIGGING-PRESENTATION for Bluegill

I usually go bass fishing but prefer panfish. I've bin wanting a rod that can handle bass soft plastics like senkos and drop shoot, but still be able to cast out 1/16-1/8 jigs at least

I just got 2 New rods. An 8' 6" Okuma Celilo UL on Amazon for $33. And a 6' 6" microlight series bass pro label rod for 39.99. Both are excellent rods... the bass pro label microlights are from 5' up to 9' in 6" increments.
