Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I bought one of these little in-line spinners last fall and had success catching bass in a local pond but never caught a bluegill. I tried them again recently and again I was attacked by bass up to 16 inches long but also started catching really nice bluegills after I gave all the bass sore lips. I used a 4# line and added two BB sized split shot about 6 in. up the line so I could cast a little farther and keep it down deeper where the big male bluegills seemed to be. I fish mainly live bait but I think the little lure is a winner and for around $1.60 each it wouldn't hurt to try one. The hook ups are good and only lost one bluegill I hooked up with. I fished with it till the body came off and then they started swallowing the small treble hook up till then all fish were hooked In the lip and that made releasing them a snap. I was using the smallest one they make but I also have been using the next size up for bass and crappie. The pics show a before and after about 50 fish and a nice gill caught with the Sonic Swing Minnow. Try one and me what you think.

try the blue fox spin jigs, more like a roadrunner but with a minnow head and body and a much better swivel and blade.alot more snagless than an in line spinner for fishing weed lines and brush.i hate small treble hooks.have had some good luck on the gills and crappies with em.the white bass seem to like em too

I will check them out Jim, The only hang up i have had are when I've thrown it into a tree.

i picked up a few of those last year Keith;; just havent tried them yet;;  that would mean;; i would have to use spinning gear instead of my fly rod!!

I've never heard of this bait till now... Thanks Keith

I fished with the Sonic Swing Minnow again Sunday with great success,  Two more species fell prey to this little spinner along with some big bluegill and a few bass.
