Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I love to be on the ice. Went from siting on bucket..canvas tent..wood hut..popup tent and now that I am 67 enjoy sitting on the bucket with no gloves and catching gills. I do love my vexilar. But at times like today when so many fish were lighting it up but only a few were hungry I realize that they will still be there another day for me to enjoy.

im not quite as old 64 but started ice fishing close to 35 years ago and just love it .ne ohio has its ups and down years but usually we get ice for a while .last year it was so cold a couple of days i just couldnt go.and ive fished devils lake nd in jan.started on a bucket like you ,homemade shanty then a clam scout flip top . been doing real good this year ,i dont think ive zeroed once, didnt always bring home but caught fish .me and the wife love our friday night fish fry ,taters and me cold beer .ill try to learn how to post pictures i hope so as i can show off like of my fellow bigbluegill guys do ,i think we all like to brag a little ,when i fish shallow 8 ft or less i try to sight fish ,deeper spring bobbers are the ticket .my buddy makes some killer tungsten jigs that reall really work, orange is our go to color ,and if its darkish or deep i like to use glow baits

Only had 8 or 9 days of decent ice here in central IN. I got out twice. Once for crappie and once for walleye a little further north. Did not get a bluegill day in and that makes for a depressing winter.
