Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Anyone here have success catch large gills on KY lake after the spawn (after June/July)? How about in the fall & winter? I live on the south end of the lake.

I've never fished for Bluegill on Ky. Lake but I imagine they would inhabit the same deep areas the crappie use. I have a friend who fishes 20 ft deep on Gibson County Lake and catches nice Bluegill in cold weather. He fishes vertical with night crawlers. Where on the lake do you live? The deep water around the power lines or the Little Island would be a place to start. Finding a place out of the wind will be important for a good vertical presentation.
Thanks for the info. My Dad lives right next to the power lines so I'm real familiar with that area. We catch a few gills while Crappie fishing but not many. I'll try the night crawlers soon off some of the deeper points.
Let me know how it goes. I'm not that far away. Do you know some good spots for bedding Bluegill in the spring? We had a place near Country Junction when I was a kid so I'm more familiar with the Big Sandy and West Sandy area of the lake.
Yeah I find beds with side scan. Found over 1000 beds last spring. Bed hunting is almost as fun as catching them. I Crappie fish on Big Sandy all the time. Hit me up in the sping if you want to go.
I like to fish there again haven't in a while. What style of fishing do you do for crappie?
We single pole over stake beds. We do most of our Crappie fishing this time of year out on the ledges.
I like to single pole , never got into spider rigging.

I HAVE TRIED MULTI POLE FISHING A FEW TIMES;; BUT YOU CAN ONLY HANDLE ONE ROD AND ONE FISH AT A TIME!!  I LEAVE THE OTHER RODS RIGGED UP;; WITH DIFFERENT BAITS NOW;; EASIER THAN RETYING  ON TO ONE ROD.

I really enjoy holding the pole and feeling the thump of a good hit. Also typically we fish deep in the beds and you can't do that spider rigging.
You have depend on more skill than just the luck of drifting.
