Thrift store pill box, converted to pocket tackle box. Under $1

Please enlighten me. What is a line holder?

Thanks

Bruce

Probably better thought of as a "line winder."
Joe fishes fixed line poles most of the time, like tenkara or cane poles.
So he pre-rigs an appropriate length of line and wraps it on one of these homemade donuts for tidy storage.
I do a similar thing, using the foam noodles to store pre-tied set rigs for catfish.

Thanks for the explanation. I kinda thought that was what Joe made, but now I know for sure. x2 on the pill box idea. Found one in a thrift store too. I have heard that folks buy those koosh-style balls at the dollar store and then snip off the dangly bits so that they can be threaded onto a hook. Makes an attractive plastic lure.

Ive tried the rubber koosh danglies you describe - to no avail.

It sounds good in theory and it seems to sometimes work, for some people, under some conditions.

But they didn't do anything for me.

When Im not tossing a fly, micro-spoon or 0 size Beetle Spin - Ive got a worm on the hook. I grow my own in a really big, worn out old ice chest. Thyere pretty dang cheap, at that rate!

Back on topic, foam pool noodles are very versatile. Buy a few at the end of summer at half price. Then kick them around all winter and you ll think of many things to use them for.

Or google "pool noodle uses" andbe amazed.

I use #32 hooks and

micro plastics in the one mm range. This adds a bit of anise scent and  works great for plastics

Little Atom C9 Scent Formula Concoction #9

Amazing, anything that small.

And I thought I was micro sizing when I stepped into the world of bluegill.

The advances in micro fishing are amazing. I'm using hooks with 1.5 mm hook sets. I'm down to bluegill at 1.25 inches. still trying to crack 1.0 inches

Mind boggling Joe!

Dave

Thanks, with Tenkara , we call then line holders since we just them when we both store and move from place to place. This way you don't have to keep re rigging.

Thanks, all. I'm learning a lot. I tie flies on size 26 to 30 size hooks, but I've never seen those Gamakatsu Ultimates.

I have attached a link to the Tenkarabum site. The hooks are in the micro fishing area of the site. This is where I purchase most of my fixed line equipment. The website also gives a great over view of fixed line fishing.
