Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I went down to my sons house in Tampa and got to catch some of those Florida bluegills. I am definitely hooked, no pun intended. I think I will plan a 2 week trip down there in the spring when they bed up to spawn. In Michigan that isn't until June, what time of the year do the bluegills bed up in Florida.

Nice you got to fish down there. No pictures at all to share for us less fortunate folks? lol Illinoisgiller
Hey Michael if you want to see the pics you can look at my photos. He fished with me.
In Georgia, they usually start around the first full moon in May, sometimes sooner depending on how warm the water is. They then continue spawning throughout the summer, especially during the full moons. I have noticed that the earlier summer months tend to have more bluegill on beds than later in the summer. I would imagine that Florida is very similar to this although I do not know from personal experience.
My son put the pictures up on his page, Tommy Winton, I let him take all of the credit for them even though I caught most of them.LOl
Tom, you forgot to tell them that I caught most of them. haha
Lies. Lol
They're still bedding on the new and full moons. I've gotten into bedding bluegill the last three trips.
Are talking about beds as in spawning beds? Here in Michigan as far as I know and have seen they are well done by this time, and then it's a wait until next year.
