Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Since anything fried is been forbidden to me now, I'm thinking about buying a smoker to do fish in this year. What's everyones thoughts on this? Recipes, Charcoal or propane or electric?

Look out! We're getting into the technical aspects now :)

ive been using a electric ; grill; smoker for many - many years;  prefer it above everything!!  keep the heating element from touching any thing! it creates a hot spot on it and shortens the life of it!  I put 3 ;  3/4 pices of steel blocks under the 3 leg pegs; raising it just a touch; then the lava rock under it everywhere;;  when I cook;; I add some; pecan ; apple ; or peach wood. cooks great!!  with charcoal  you have to buy charcoal; and the mess afterwards.  with propane;; buy gas; and run the risk of running out.  electric-- plug it in!  and-- with a electric smoker-- its the ONLY one that keeps a constant heat!

I'm sold on the idea of an Electric smoker now that I've read the opinions.

Electric is great as long as the power stays on. I want a separate electric heating element, and smoke pan, to accompany a charcoal/wood burner.

But, I just read that you want to smoke food as an alternate to fried. I'm only doing it for fun. For large scale production, and consistency, I'm thinking electric control is probably the best option.

I think I'm gonna get one of those small electric Brinkman smokers. That should be plenty big for Ma 'n me. Especially since I mention smoked fish and she makes this gagging sound. Big sigh......

Hey if she don't like it it means more for Earl

Very true. This could be a good thing!

I want one of those round top ones . It starts out as charcoal fired, but they can be converted to electric. I've done charcoal types, and don't mind it. But I'd like to have both options.

david-- that's what I have-- its a brinkman smoker grill!
