Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

The Complete Bad Angler by Philip Storey. It's a compilation of short articles from Angling Times a British fishing magazine. They are funny and self deprecating. I like the descriptions of the tackle and different fish Brits fish for, chubs, roaches and barbels. It's a free Kindle download.
What are some other good fishing books?

Free kindle and you didnt tell us sooner? Aaaaaah! Its gone back to $2.99

Just kidding - thats how it is with the free editions. They go fast and then are taken off FREE. Sometimes they only last a few hours.

I like Mr. Storeys works. I have his book, "Season of the Spider," about fishing North Country spider patterns on the same rivers as the Old Masters.

Sorry, just found it two days ago. Will be quicker next time. I was wondering about his other books.
Tales of Fishes by Zane Grey it's free Kindle download it's out of the public domain.

Yesterday I got, "Trout," by Ray Bergman, probably one of the most renowned American angling books of all.

I picked it up used, at www.alibris.com for just a few bucks. Personally, I prefer a book over e-versions. I use both, but the book in hand is a tactile thing I appreciate.

i used to get british fly mags,i really like their take on stuff.and david that is a great book.may start tying the bergman flies.some tyers try to do every fly.maybe if and when i  retire

Fishing with a Worm by Perry Bliss is a essay on fishing from the early 1900's that is very much worth reading. Fly fishermen as well as bait fishermen will get a kick out of it. It is also a free Kindle download.

"Fishing With A Worm" is indeed a great book. There are a few good tips in there, too. But Mr. Bliss takes a fairly dim view of the self-absorbed, pretentious sort of fly angler. So, if that describes you, beware!

He was a fly fisherman also. He saw the differences in perceived attitudes. He understood the need to be a complete angler. I haven't got very far into fly fishing so I have something left to discover. I'll keep an open mind.

Exactly. I liked his examination of the true fisherman, the man who will leave "important" work to go "a'fishing."

And I really liked the way he beat up the nose-in-the-air fly man.

Yeah I hear ya there. They say that most fly fishermen have either one, or both of two chronic injuries...

A) Severe neck pain from holding the nose at such a high level and

B) Chronic lower back issues spawned by the constant reaching for the wallet and credit cards.

My good friend and fly fishing author Joe Bruce told me that one! And he's a fly fisher to the max.

they should see how we do it jim,no waders just go in when u have to.i actually put scent on my flies.all 6 of my flyrods could not buy one decent TROUT rod.rusty altoid tin fly boxes, always have at least i spinning rod with me and some bobbers and worms.i catch a lot of trout but rarely on my fly rod as i only tie bluegill and bass flies.i live to flyfish out of my buddy's bass boat with the deck covered in chewing tobacco and old plastic worms

I've been known to put a redworm at the end of a fly line and roll cast it, so I guess I'm safe LOL
