Do a little looking around on the site. You'll find the answers to your questions. Info to be had everywhere here.

i really like a 1/64oz gold jig head with orange krystal flash, works and really cheap and easy to make more if you loose them.

People that know me know that only one answer will come out of my mouth...a Trout Magnet. I like the lure and the 1/64 shad dart head. I catch a ton of fish with it. Before I blew this knee out.....about 3 months ago...I was dabbling into using a 5mm tungsten jig bead on a # 10 hook with the Trout Magnet body. Tungsten is awesome to fish with...IMHO. There is no doubt when you get a hit. I have always loved fishing and have been addicted too it from an early age. But fishing my jig bodies with a tungsten head takes it to a whole new level for me. Due to the cost I had told myself I would only use the tungsten in Winter. Well...like all addictions I guess you can't control it.....LOL. I have bought many more jig heads in smaller size to use during Spring...Summer and Fall. One of the reel counter guys that works at the Bass Pro in Nashville had heard me talking about using tungsten. He asked me how I was liking it. I told him I loved it but was worried I was addicted to using them and that could be bad because of the cost. He replied "If you had asked me before you ever tried it I would have told you after one cast...and hit.....you could never go back". He was right.

What is advantage of tungsten jigs?

Is there any pictures of trout magnet?

Randy although I use to fish lots but not as often as I would like now I  have a question I'm really trying to figure out. Trying to figure out the difference between lead and tungsten beside being different metals. I'm thinking they serve to same purpose to sink your baits so can you enlighten me since I never used tungsten before what can I expect and what make them so much better for you. Thanks for your post.

I love tungsten jigs! The advantage, for me anyway, is the fact that tungsten is heavier than lead...which means that i can downsize the physical size of my jig, and still have the weight i need to get down to the fish.

Through the ice, many times I am fishing deep water, and when you're on a hot bite the trick is to get the jig back down to the active fish as quick as possible...no slow fall technique here, it's a case of drop it back down the hole quickly.

During the warmer months, I slip float a lot...and anyone who knows me knows I love a micro jig! Trouble is, small usually means light...as in not enough weight to pull my line through the slip float without adding extra weight. Tungsten, allows me the best of both worlds.....smaller size, and weight without adding lead splitshot.

Thanks for the explanation Tony I didn't know what the difference was if any.

Tracy, here's what a Trout Magnet looks like:

Trout Magnet on Cabela's website

I've been meaning to get some.  I've heard they are slaying the stocked Trout at my home lake with these.

Dick, tungsten is much more dense than lead.  I've heard that it's twice as dense as lead.  So, you can have a jighead that's just a tiny thing, about the size of a 1/32, but it will weigh in at around 1/16 oz.

The next time you go to Netcraft, see if you can get some Tungsten beads.  I'm pretty sure they carry some.  Slide on onto a size 12 scud hook, and tie a basic nymph pattern, like a classic Gold-Ribbed Hare's Ear nymph.  Toss it out, let it sink to bottom, and slowly drag the thing back.  See how many hits you get.....

DICK,these are tungsten bead bugs.they cast well on a fly rod but also fish well under a bobber or for ice fishing.these are size 12 hooks and the beads are 2.5 0r 3 mm.about 1/8 dia.they actually stand on their heads, tungsten is very dense and heavy for its size.i just got several bright colors and glow in the dark for some ice jigs i want to make.i buy them by the 100 on ebay.i think around 12.00 per hundred depending on size.you can slip these on a straight pin and tie it onto a small jig hook and make a more traditional jig out of them.dick you have talent and people pay good money for tungsten ice jigs.check em out on ebay

Good looking fluffy butts, Jim.

thanks david.that is egg or glow bug yarn.tie it on then tug on it alittle and cut while stretched and it fluffs up like that.i bag with 4 or 5 colors is cheap and a life time supply
