Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hi! I am new to the group but I have been fly fishing for off and on for quite a while.

Last week I bought another fly rod (Wright & McGill generation 2 S curve),that makes number 10 or 11

fly rods that I own. I just can't pass up what I think is a bargain,(39.95). I have a few rods that I have never used.

Am I the only one?

Nope, you're certainly not the only one. I build rods and that causes me to have way too many, but I love it.

Bruce if you build rods, you may know my neighbor Don Morton. He speaks at rod builder conclaves. He won't build you a rod but will give advice and instructions. I have a few blanks ready to build if I ever get started. I have a Sage graphite 3 GFL 590-4 llb blank and a Gatti FRHP 865-3 TA blank and a couple of unknown blanks.

I ASSURE YOU THAT YOUR AREN'T THE ONLY ONE ON HERE THAT THINKS THE WAY YOU DO JOHN !!!!!!!!!!   I USED to build high end graphite and went back to glass for durability factor, and a slower action of course. I have way too many rods here and still buying the good ole stuff when I can find it. Current count is around 10 myself now and several of the guys on here have been somewhat converted by me with the vintage stuff.
One fella from Missouri on here has 7 of mine I believe . REST ASSURED YOU ARE NOT ALONE ...........

I also just love old glass fly rods from the 50-70's... When I find a homeless fly rod at estate or garage sale... I am  fly rod junkie I guess. I just have to give it a new home... There is so must fantastic history and guessing how many fish caught with them, great places where it was fished... with the new fly line technology today it brings many of these fly rods back to life and are they a joy to cast and catch fish with...I won't indulge how many I have but I do use them at every opportunity...when ever I hit a pond I take 3-4 in the boat and rotate casting them with different fly lines... they are sweet and with a bull bluegill fighting & attached at the other end....The hey day of warm-water fly fishing is alive at my neck of the woods...it is the simple things is life that make me happy...I am a throw back, I guess... the memories a fly rod can provide is priceless

read this short passage and it might hit a soft spot:
