Do you love big bluegill?
Did a little fishing today....
Got out of work, and hit up the pond at work. Used the same rig that's been working, a Deer Hair Caddis with a Scud about 10" below it.
Sure enough, if I could get my bugs withing 12" of the algae mat hung up in the cattails, the indicator fly would disappear within seconds.
I caught about 6 or so really dark male Bluegill. I also caught about 6 fish that at first, looked like small Red-Eared Sunnies. Only problem was that they didn't have any red spots on their gill flaps. I also noticed that they had really FULL bellies. Then, I remembered that the next Full Moon is coming up soon.
D'Oh!!! Gravid Female gills!
