Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

How small a jig is commenly used for bluegills, I use them as small as a 1/180 sometimes, just wondered if that is a common size or if you guys think a bigger jig is better for bluegill, I also make my own spoons out of #0 and #1
willow leaf spinner blades, the work great anybody else trying things like that ?

Hey Tim, I use jigs as small as 1/124 oz for gills, but find that I catch most of my 'jig' fish on a 1/64 or a 1/80 oz jig, usually tied with brown or black craft hair with a strand or two of flashabou accent. Nothin fancy, just something to look like a critter trying to get away. Alot of guys tie their own on this site and it seems that red, purple and lavender shades are pretty popular for big gills.

Haven't done the spoon gig yet...maybe today...?
I seem to have better luck with natural hair and feather jigs for bluegill, I'm not a fan synthetic. Even in colder water I think the real stuff just out fishes synthetics (troll hair)
how do you get the hook attached to the small willow leaf blade?
Epoxy or solder I've used both, Solder is faster.
