Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Tulls Bay is a beautiful blackwater location with hundreds of flooded cypress and boscoyos....Very scenic and full of good sunfish of multiple species.

This is in the upper reaches of the Pasquotank River near Goat Island.....Dozens of creeks and cuts off this river and Trophy Coppernose make this river my favorite Bluegill destination in the country.

The North River is by far the most remote North Carolina river in the Dismal Swamp chain.....Blackwater and flooded Boscoyos and marsh grasses make this a great destination for multiple species of sunfish and this place is the location of the North Carolina State record Yellow Perch......

There you go. And the lepomii group are generally willing accomplices....

It also helps that for every apex predator, there are 10 times as many supporting organisms in the same water. For every bass, there are dozens (if not more) sunfish waiting for your hook.

"Fill the stringer, then go for some serious fishing"

I can't argue with your logic Mike......I feel the same way about wetting a line! These areas do look like the St. Johns River, my wife is originally from Orange Park so we get back there from time to time........not always to fish but we stop by Whitey's Fish Camp for dinner........

Hey Mike, it's in the Doctor's Lake section north of Palatka......it's off the little feeder creek in the back of Doctor's Lake in Orange Park.......

"Whiteys Fish Camp" - now there is a name I havent heard for ages! Used to go there a lot.

Man,

Thanks for the memories of me in my youth fishing tulls creek for bream and crappie, Really enjoyed Back Bay and fishing the duck blinds in the 1970's. Is Back Bay coming back around now. Thanks Chris Spivey

No problem Chris......some folks talk like Back Bay is back and some Old Timers say it never will return to its glory of years past.....I've fished it successfully a few times over recent years....I also like North Landing too....There is a lot of big brackish bodies of water in this region....It's difficult to dedicate to them all.....Tulls Bay is still very good in my opinion and it's closer for me......
