Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

...got this little squealer yesterday, on a home made Slider with pink twist tail. The little cove are was really a guys dock and there were 4 boats within a 25 yard radius. Docks, fireworks and people grilling in their backyards completed the scene. This was a lakeside neighborhood, not a secluded backwater.

But in true form, the little bluegill and his kin were there and they were eager. I had also had a good time sighting these fish on a Jim Cosgrove floating popper. To round things out, we  caught a few little bass-lings and a big alligator snapping turtle. I love it how everyone comes running when a turtle surfaces! Can you have more fun?

I like it David.....

Notice the grub is as big as the fish! I didn't see any really big fish in this little spit pool, but these dinks were full of fight.
I caught some equally SMALL rockies on equally LARGE Beetle Spins, too, the first fish Ive ever caught on one.
The whole time I was rummaging thru my tackle store and sayin', "What do I have that is pink.... Where's Jeff when I need 'im?"

Pink. It's not just a catch word for Victoria's Secret anymore...............

I believe that fish may be something other than a Bluegill............ either way, pink is the word......

Yeah it's not a 'true' bluegill... some sort of cross breed, probably. It has some punkin seed-like mottling and was longish in the body. Maybe a greenie - I'm no good at the subtleties.

Pretty good pic from a Dollar Store Android phone, though, eh? LOL

I'll say! Excellent photo quality!
