Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

when you guys put new line on a reel, do you fill the whole thing up or do about half full? Because i've noticed that once i get closer to the end of my line, it is more prone to looping than normal and becomes a pain, and i usually have to cut it because of tangles haha. therefore wasting line.  also, is there a noticeable performance difference in the plastic spare spool a reel would come with compared to the metal one that is on the reel already?

spinning  reel  ------  I start with about 12 ft. mono (6 to 10 #test) tied to spool ---- then tie and fill spool a lil more than (not much more) over half full with 6 # braid (sufix 832  6#).     I find this braid (sufix 832  6#) does real good for spinning reels.

Not following on the plastic spool thing!!!!!!!

what is the purpose of the 12ft of mono?

No mater how tight I tie the braid to spool it tends to slip on spool  SO  I start with mono about 12 ft. then tie braid to mono.  The mono streches a little and make a better bind and knot to the reel.  Never had line slipping on spool since.

smallest photo ever, but it comes with an extra spool made of plastic. the black thing to the right of the reel http://www.profishingreelsonline.com/files/4178290/uploaded/153576%...

Can't  help you with plastic spool ------ never had a reel with a plastic spool

I think most of the spare spools out there are either Carbon-fiber, or ABS plastic.  I've got a few, got two filled, and one is currently on one of my catfish rigs.  I haven't noticed a problem.

When it comes to putting line on a spinning reel, I always fill that sucker, until it's within 1/8" of the lip.  This gives increased casting distance.  Also, as mentioned, the line is not quite so "loopy".

Of course, all but one of my spinning rigs have braid on them, so I don't get the problems with line memory.

ah i see, i just don't get why they don't just put an extra metal one in there though! it would give me extra peace of mind for whatever reason haha.

An 8th inch short of the end of the spool is what I do. Gives me those long casts if I need them. Ahh now I see Allen beat me to it.
