Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Just curious as to what the different members take out on their float tubes to munch on and drink while you are out there for several hours.   I love the tins of smoked baby oysters and crackers, but they are messy if you are not careful, with the oil they are packed in.  Then you have to carefully put the empty can into a ziplock bag to throw in the trash later.  I always end up getting that oil on my tube or on me.  And if you spill any overboard, it makes an oil slick that follows you around, trying to get on your 'tube..! no matter how hard you kick!

You might want to hang a can of that stuff over the side, tied on a cord. Can you say, "chum slick?"

I can hear me repeating to myself over and over: "bait on the left, snacks on the right"

I don't want to think about the repercussions caused by getting those mixed up.

Banana and peanut butter sandwich. We are talking chunk style peanut butter. with a water wash . Now that is some high class eats. lol   Mike

Definitely a breakfast sausage sandwich smashed into the 2 course meal lunch of rice, stir fried veggies, and a small ramen cup to wash it down, with a nice 32oz coffee. Although, not a fun late afternoon as the foods migrate.

A small ice chest fits nicely in the front V of my fish cat. 1st and always is Dr. Pepper and water in the chest. Next is probaby some cheese, or fajita steak strips, crackers and quite possibly peanut butter buddy bars. If we're going to be out all day, premade sandwiches to enjoy while pulled up along a bank somewhere.  Being able to take my little ice chest leaves an endless possibility of food items.

It's nice finding a site like this with so many different groups.I got my first tube in 1988.I now have number 7 and 8. I can't think of a time when I took anything to eat or drink with me.A Lot of my fishing, takes place several hundred yards off shore.I'd be spending all my time going back and forth relieving my self.

I'm with Tony on making sure I keep the snacks and bait separate. I always bring water even though I used to bring diet soda and water. The soda would cause me to kick back to shore before I was ready to be done fishing ;-)   I like taking stuff like granola or energy bars. I used to take sandwiches but I'd rather leave those in the ice chest.

Not to be gross, but yeah, that's the one good thing about going in a swimsuit without waders.  I can drink all the coffee I want in the morning, plus I bring a 16 oz. bottle of frozen water/powdered juice mix.  I also bring  PB&J sandwich for energy, plus you don't need to keep it refrigerated like a meat& cheese w/ mayo.

HA! I hear ya man. That works fine when the water gets warmer but I have to break out the float tube in the cold water too and a swimsuit isn't an option in 40 degree water! :-)

WUSS! *LOL* just joking there. Waters around this part of the state gets pretty dicey lately, going from the 45°F to 59°F at the surface. Not sure what's going on with the weather lately, but tubing in swim trunks..well, unless you're a part of the polar bear club, I don't think your body will like the cold water pressing against the wader on a full bladder of coffee.

Jeff, get your kicking legs going again. Will join you on Fridays later in the late spring and summer. My mom is willing to watch the kids for me to head out for the morning to late noon outings. Finally! Hanging with the float master of gills.

:-D

Yeah I won't be joining the polar bear club anytime soon. This really has been a strange winter for most of the country. Here in Utah we have had hardly any snow, the ice fishing was moderate at best, and a lot of lakes are losing ice fast. The upside? I can go float tubing. The downside? That water is still pretty dang cold!

Yeah, fishing in UT is cold enough, all right. Once, while visiting a friend who lives in Payson, we went fishing at a lake up Payson Canyon. We're going up the hill in his truck and I keep seeing cattle heading down the hill. Later, I found out why. It started snowing while we were at the lake. Cold as all get out and we didn't even catch anything :p
