Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Kids that went Bluegill fishing this Summer return to school happier!

As school bells ring out across our great nation and Labor Day is starting to show up on desk top calendars from coast to coast, it's time to look back at Summers gone by and reflect on the great times you've had taking kids bluegill fishing. I recently had a neighbor kid thank me for taking him out several times this Summer. See, he is going to be a freshman at our local high school and football practice has begun and his schedule is busy to say the least. I encourage him to do his best just like we do when we hit the water. He reflected back to the 18th of June 2009 on the first trip he ever made with me. We had a great day then and have had many more since. His reward was catching the biggest shellcracker and bluegill of his life this Summer, mine was seeing the excitement that these fish always deliver to the anglers that pursue them. My nephew Dan's catches are throughout my photos as we look forward to every June like other folks look forward to Christmas! He also had 5 personal bests this Summer including Largemouth Bass, Bowfin, Shellcracker, Warmouth and of course Bluegill. And who can forget getting their granchildren out to catch their first gill ever, both Owen and Cody got their first fishing with me. So as Summer nears an end, don't dwell in the past but look forward to many more on your favorite body of water and know you had an impact on those kids that you took fishing. All they need to do is tell one person and the word is spread!
