Do you love big bluegill?
Finally got out today a gave the fingernail spoonflies a try!!!!!! Beautiful day on the PRAIRIE light breeze about 20 and gusty!!!! 80 degrees + awesome winter day!!!!!!!!! Armed with these spoons and a 3 wt. flyrod medium action, fast action would work better!!!!!! They cast well and actually cast into the wind better than with the wind to you back!!!!! The one with dressing on the hook took fish better than those with out!!!!!! Looked good in the water on an intermediate sinking line!!!!!
Caught 20 to 25 crappie and 12 bass on all colors!!!!! I fished 6 of the flies in about 3 hours!!!!!!
Crappie were hitting on the drop!!!!!!!!
Bass were hitting it on the strip hard!!!!!!!!
This one hit the SWEDISH SORTOF PIMPLE!!!!!!
All and all it was a good day of fishing, I ended up with 8 crappie for the table!!!!!
While it was a fun day of fishing cannot consider this a success as a fly, YET!!!!
I caught lots of bass and crappie while fun the were no BLUEGILL, no GREENSUNFISH, no HYBRIDS orREDEAR!!!!! NOT A FAILURE TIL I GIVE UP!!!!!
JUST NEED MORE FIELD TRIALS!!!!!!
The split ring for the hooks and the barrel swivals between the leader and the tippet are a must!!!!!!
