Well, it's the middle of April, and sad to say I've only been to my friend's private lake twice. The first time much earlier this month, I came home with 10 nice gills with a total weight of 5 pounds. Second time out, only caught 4 just last weekend. Could see the gills everywhere, but this time of the month they only have one thing on their minds. Looks like it's going to be a heavy bedding season. The fish I caught were all on what I call now the "spider grub". Again, it comes from the idea that one of the members posted when I first came on this site. It's the 1 inch curl-tail grub body without the tail and 3 "legs" sewn through it. I thread a 1/32 ounce jighead on it and use a weighted bobber for distance. That's all I have been using in different color combinations, and they work great. Thanks for the tip. I know the idea isn't new to some, but is to me. Hope I'll get out more this spring. Been sick with pneumonia for 2 weeks in April, and while layed up sick, someone stole my car and wrecked it. Haven't been able to afford to buy another vehicle, so my wife and I are sharing hers. Oh well, could be worse. Take care folks and keep the live wells full. Nick.
