Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Can you tell the males from the females? Specific markings and colors in your comparisons would be helpfull. Bare with me I was only able to load them as photos so they take up lots of space.

Wow, that is pretty cool...didn't realize that.

I've been told that the males have darker sides than the females and females have the yellow breast while the males have the brighter orange breast.

I tend to think that 1,5,11,12,15 are males, and I suspect that 8 and 14 might well be, too.

I can see scale tipping on the "shoulders".  #15 has the smaller opercular flap like a female, but shows the scale tipping like a male. Curious.

1, 5, 11, and 12 are males.....14 is questionable.
