Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

After all these years being out in all kinds of weather I finally got buzzed by lightning. The main bolt hit a tree and an arc jumped out and got me on the left hand. Left me with full drawers and a new breakdancing record in 'Fat Hillbilly category'.

Be careful out there friends!

Thank you for sharing that experience.  My favorite rods are graphite BPS Micro Lite UL. I'll now be a bit faster getting off the water when storms threaten. I'll also remove the rods from the upright PVC holders. I have seen on the weather channel that lightning can hit quite far from the actual storm.

Thanks everyone for the concern and well wishes. About the worst that came out of this was my rod tip got blowed off. The crematic part anyway. I'm feeling back to my lovable 'lil 'ol self now. As a matter of fact I booby trapped the bathroom with a big rubber spider before I left for work yesterday afternoon. I'm pretty sure I'll be paroled off the sofa soon! And this Saturday is opening day of NOODLING SEASON here in Kansas. My Son-in-law thinks it's 'chaperone a geezer' day apparently. So I'll be in the company of a group of beer filled 20 something year olds. WOW! I feel sooooooo safe.

Hilarious! Fat hillbilly break dancing....

On a serious note, don't mess around with lightning. As long as it's within a few miles, it's a threat. Where I work, all outdoor activity must cease when our monitors detect an atmospheric charge within three miles.
Please, everyone, don't tempt fate for that next bite.

Sorry Earl hope all is well now. Graphite and Boron rods are very conductive the best thing is if it's lightning quit fishing and put your rods up. Holding them up is a big mistake I would hate to have anybody done in by there rods.
