I DONT HAVE A ;; FIELD AND STREAM STORE HERE;; AS FOR A ; DICKS SPORTING GOODS;;  YES I DO;; BUT; THEIR SELECTION IS SO LIMITED; AND PRIMARILY ; TARGETED TO BASS FISHING AND NOTHING ELSE;; I AVOID THEIR STORE !   IF THERE IS A ; ACADEMY SPORTS NEAR YOU;; GO THERE;; LOTS OF GREAT SELECTION; RODS; REELS ; FISHING LINE; FLY TYING STUFF; ;; EVERYTHING YOU NEED; AND THEY HAVE GREAT CLEARANCE SALES !!!  CHECK THEM OUT ; ON LINE !!

Hi Jeffrey,

I haven't posted in quite some time but do check in and read once in a while. I assume you're talking about the new store that's opening in Greenbrier Square in Chesapeake. I actually went in there yesterday. I was driving by on the interstate and noticed their "Opening Soon" sign had been replaced with a "Now Open" sign so I exited and drove over.

I'd never been inside a Field &Stream store either and didn't know what to expect. When you walk inside, both stores (Dick's & Field & Stream) are connected as one on the inside. Basically, the Field & Stream side is like one of the old Dick's stores "Lodge" departments on steroids, with all the hunting & fishing stuff, guns etc. (and they have lots of guns, including handguns) in that side. 

Then on the other side in "Dick's they have all the other types of sporting goods ... Golf, baseball, tennis etc.

They do have a good bit of meat processing equipment along with Fish Fryers, Smokers, etc.. Much like BPS.

They do have a fair amount of stuff in the fishing dept., but did seem to be lacking some in the amount of Panfish size artificial baits and such that we would like to see.

All in all it's a nice store, kind of like a small scale BPS but with similar prices. I may shop once in a while for some sale items as it is only 10 minutes from the house.
