Do you love big bluegill?
Howdy again Y’all
Well of we go to try our luck at evening and night fishing at Lake Norfork.
Really breezy gusts up to 15 mph and straight into the back of the cove we were working, yes we worked and sweated to wait the wind out. We had a few peckerfish but mostly it was dead.
As night came on we attached lights to our bobbers (1 ½” Cyalume taped to the line above the bobber) to act as strike indicators, caught a nice 8” gill and a 5” blue cat off the worm line with the light, I had a lockup on my cat reel and had to repair it at home the wife’s cat rig just had nibbles on the hotdog but no takers. We only had one gill keeper a nice 8” but returned him to the lake gods after the nights fishing at 0100 due to no else joining the basket.
The other strange happening was the minnow population was all hopping on the surface like baby bass. Seems the moon had a effect due to no other fish hitting the surface or even hitting the minnows.
We’ll keep fishing and searching for the elusive summer gills, just sweat and fuss till you prevail.
Yours in service
James and Kathy
