It's a no-brainer! That's a pure-breed Greenie. Catch them just like that out here in sunny Southern California. They really are a cool looking little fish.

really? wow you guys could be right. the ones that i caught last week were warmouth but this was a completely different place. ive never seen a green sunfish this dark though.

I'm still seeing an awful lot of Green Sunfish in that pic. I'm going with Hybrid Bluegill again...... I don't recall ever seeing a Warmouth with blue striations on its cheeks, course' I haven't seen it all either!

exactly right dick, for these guys i run steel leader with 90 yards 127 pound braid. mono backing at 52 pounds, a good sized one will get into your backing within seconds and its just a prayer after that. best to hunt for these guys at night.
