I don't want to think about the weather. Springtime here in OK is also Tornado Season. Cold fronts and Warm fronts marching up and down the landscape, Ad infinium, ad nauseaum, makes for planning some fishing a real exercise. Are we pre-frontal, post-frontal? Whats the water temp? How has the latest rain affected the water temp? Did they move deep? Or are they soaking up some sun in shallow, protected coves? Where's the bait?
What's worse, the river I normally fish has a hydro-electric dam on it about 15 miles upstream of where I fish. I've learned that the bigger fish just don't show up unless water is moving. So, I try to plan some fishing trips to take advantage of moving water in the river. They didn't generate this weekend, so the river is low. They're scheduled to release out of BOTH turbines (been awhile for that) for several hours tomorrow afternoon. We'll see if they keep the schedule (rarely do).
Thanks Mike...hope you get out there today....
Both very nice fish Jeffrey.....Hoping to get out to the lake later today.
We started getting those traditional crushing hits from big gills during yesterday's trip.....It's so fun to wake up to singing birds and blooming flowers and know the big bluegill bite is on! We are in for another week of mostly 80s so things will continue to ramp up in our region....
Thanks guys.....amen on the Summer Greg......Sounds like a good time Tooty and hope it works out for you guys in June....
Nice pair of doubles Jeffrey.
It will be in the 100's before we know it, bring on the SUMMER!!!!!
HEY JEFFREY I'M JEALOUS OF YOUR TEMPS DOWN THERE !!!!!!!! YOU won't believe this but a chance of flurries tonight here and supposed to hit 70 tomorrow !!!!!!! Hopefully going in the afternoon tomorrow. Also just had the pleasure of talking to a youngster on here , Sir Jacob Lindner Hill !!!!!!!!! What a great kid on the phone and it was as good talking to him as it has been talking to you over the last year on here. He invited me to one of the lakes he fishes in June and can't wait for it . He lives about 80 miles from me apparently and in my opinion , which doesn't mean much of course, is the Young Version of Sir Jeffrey. The kid is a wealth of knowledge and can't wait to soak some of it up !!!!!!!! GUess soon he'll turn the ripe old age of 16 ..........
I hear you Allen....our Bluegill bite was a little off today because of the sudden drop overnight but I'm certainly not complaining....I can cope with high 60s and lower 70s all day......Hope it settles down for you folks in Oklahoma soon.......
Color me jealous! Water temps here dropped 10 degrees since last Monday, thanks to a storm system with lots of cold rain, and cold air.
